# Consumer Application Experience

## Overview

The consumer credit application is designed to work seamlessly on any device — mobile, tablet, or desktop. The step-by-step layout is optimized for mobile, making it easy for your consumers to apply right from their phones. There are two application experiences depending on your program configuration: **the Short Application** and**the Full Application.**

Uportal Application Flow:

Short App Flow:

## Sending a Credit Application to a Consumer

Merchants initiate the application process from the uPortal360 merchant dashboard. Follow these steps:

1. Click the Send New Application button from your dashboard.
2. Select the Finance Program and preferred Delivery Method (SMS or Email). Optionally enter the consumer's contact details to pre-populate the application.
3. Confirm Communication Consent and send the application link to the consumer.
4. The consumer will receive a link to begin their application.

*Tip: The delivery method (phone or email) cannot be changed once the consumer begins their application without contacting Client Support.*

## Short Application: Consumer Journey

The Short Application is a streamlined version for programs that use a simplified intake process. Consumers can access it via a direct link or by scanning a QR code (e.g., from a flyer or point-of-sale display).

### Step 1 – Application Form, Disclosures, & Consent

The consumer's landing page displays your business logo for familiarity. Before proceeding, the consumer must agree to the following:

* Terms & Conditions
* Privacy Policy — UAS uses information solely for credit purposes and does not share it.
* ESIGN Consent Act — Authorizes UAS to send required notices electronically.

The short form collects core application information in a single, streamlined screen.

Required fields: Full Name, Email, Date of Birth, last 4 of SSN, and Street Address.

Once complete, the consumer reviews and clicks “Let’s Go” to submit.

### Step 2 – Select Finance Offers

Approved consumers will see their financing options on the next screen. The consumer may review, update financed amount based on approved credit, and select the offer that best fits their needs. Financing terms are clearly presented, with special financing interest rates (promotional periods) if program allows.

### Step 3– Phone Verification

The consumer verifies their identity via a code sent to their phone, finalizes the application, and receives approval status within seconds.

### Step 4 – Post-Approval Charge Entry

After consumer approval, the merchant enters the charge details via the “To Do” tab in Merchant Control Panel of the uPortal. Once submitted, the consumer is notified and can complete the remaining agreement steps, including autopay enrollment and signing the agreement via Docusign.

## Full Application: Consumer Steps

Prior to the consumer’s application steps, the Merchant will select the Finance Program via the Merchant Control Panel in uPortal. The merchant has the option to enter some of the applicant’s information, such as name, address, and date of birth. This will auto-populate these fields for the consumer.

### Step 1 – Application Form, Disclosures, & Consent

The consumer enters the email address associated with the Merchant. The consumer then reviews and agrees to Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and ESIGN Consent Act documents.

The consumer then has a 5 step application process.

* Email and phone number verification
* Name and address entry
* Date of Birth and last 4 SSN entry
* Annual income, monthly housing costs
* Verification of application details and acknowledgement of terms and conditions

Approval status is decided within seconds of completing application steps.

### Step 2 – Approval and Merchant Charge Entry

After consumer approval, the merchant enters the charge details via the “To Do” tab in Merchant Control Panel of the uPortal. Cash price and down payment information is entered here by the Merchant.

Approved financing options will appear on the next screen. The merchant selects financing option and terms based on consumers approved credit. Financing terms are clearly presented, with special financing interest rates (promotional periods) if program allows.

### Step 3 - Consumer Finalizes Application

Once financing option is selected, the consumer reviews and acknowledges financing terms. Consumer selects “Continue” to proceed.

### Step 4 - AutoPay Enrollment

If your finance program requires AutoPay, the consumer will enroll their bank account or credit card during this step. Programs that do not require AutoPay will display a 'Skip for now' option. Consumers may select the minimum monthly payment or a custom amount.

### Step 5 - Email and Phone Verification

The consumer verifies their identity via a code sent to their email, followed by phone, finalizes the application, and receives approval status within seconds.

### Step 6 – DocuSign Agreement & Account Access

The consumer reviews and signs their financing agreement electronically via DocuSign, embedded directly within the application. Once signed, the contract activates and the consumer receives login credentials for uPortal360 to manage their account.
