# Can late fees be waived?

### Late Fees

Late fees are charged when a consumer fails to make a payment on the designated due date. UAS understands that there may be a circumstance that prevented a consumer from making their payment on time.

### Considerations

For an account to be eligible for late fees to be waived, it depends if it's a [serviced (SRV) or purchased (PUR)](/frequently-asked-questions/contracts-and-modifications/what-is-the-difference-between-a-purchased-contract-and-a-serviced-contract-will-my-consumer-know-an) contract. Below are some of the main criteria that are taken into consideration for the different types of accounts.

  **Confirm if the charge is a late fee**

  Please confirm that the fee is a late fee. There could be other fees on the account such as Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF), that will need to be addressed by a client's financial institution. This is not a charge from UAS.

### How to Request Late Fees to be waived

For both serviced and purchased accounts, please submit a [case](/support-tickets-and-contract-changes/support-cases)

Please go to the consumer's contract to submit the case, using the following case fields as sample, then hit 'submit case'.
