This FAQ consolidates the most common consumer-payment questions into one place. Each question links directly, so you can share a specific answer with a colleague or consumer. Where an answer involves more than a few steps, it links to the full guide.

How can a consumer pay their account?

Consumers have three ways to pay: online through uPortal360, over the phone, or by mailing a check. All payment details are printed on the consumer’s monthly billing statement. There is no penalty for paying off an account early.
Note: Mailed payments go to Universal Account Servicing, PO Box 12027, Parkville, MO 64152. For payment questions, the consumer can reach the UAS Billing Department at (888) 233-2302. See Help & Contacts for all consumer-facing numbers.

Can consumers pay online, and how do they log in?

Yes. uPortal360 lets a consumer manage every part of their account, including making payments and enrolling in AutoPay. To log in, a consumer needs their Account Number and Access Code, both of which appear in their agreement package, on every billing statement, and in any electronic communication from us. For security, they will also be asked to verify their date of birth or the last four digits of their SSN.
Tip: If a consumer has trouble signing in, they can select the Help Logging In button on the login screen.

When are payments due?

A consumer must pay at least the total minimum payment due by 5:00 PM CST on the due date of each billing cycle. Payments received after 5:00 PM CST may be credited as of the next business day. A consumer may pay all or part of the unpaid balance at any time with no prepayment charge. If a balance is subject to interest, paying earlier may reduce the total interest the consumer pays.

How long does it take for a payment to post?

A consumer payment can take up to 24 hours to post to uPortal360. You can monitor consumer payment activity with the Transactions report: open the Reports tab, select the Transactions report, enter a date range, and select Run.
Important: The Transactions report requires the Contracts Report Set permission. If you’re unsure whether you have it, contact your User Manager.

Why was a consumer’s payment declined?

When a payment is declined, the reason is recorded in uPortal360 on the contract’s transaction history. To find the decline reason:
  1. Log in to uPortal360.
  2. In the Quick Search field, enter the contract number or consumer’s name.
  3. Locate the contract and select the green View button.
  4. In the left-hand menu, select Transactions .
  5. Find the transaction with a Declined status, then scroll right to the Declined Reason column.
  6. The Declined Reason shows a code and a short explanation.
Each code maps to a standard transaction response reason from the payment processor. If you need help interpreting a code, contact the Client Success Team.

How can I help a consumer add or update a payment method?

For security reasons, merchants cannot view, add, or edit a consumer’s payment method directly. When a consumer can’t call the Consumer Help Desk at (877)-378- 9218 or log in to update it themselves, you can submit a payment method on their behalf using the Payment Method Authorization Form. Complete the form and return it to the Client Success Team by email. You’ll receive confirmation once the payment method has been added and, if requested, enrolled in AutoPay.
Warning: Only submit payment details on the approved authorization form. Never collect or send card or bank numbers by plain email or unsecured channels. Never add card information on cases.

Can a consumer change how much AutoPay pays each month?

Yes. A consumer can override their AutoPay amount, as long as the override is greater than the minimum monthly payment. The consumer completes this in their own uPortal360 account. For the full step-by-step, see the AutoPay Override guide (link once published).

Can a consumer’s due date be changed?

If the contract is an SRV contract, the due date can be changed. Please submit a case to process the request. If the contract is a PUR contract, the due date may be changed once during the life of the loan, provided the first payment has already been made. Blackout dates: The due date cannot be changed to the 29th, 30th, or 31st of any month.
Note: Changing the due date does not change any promotional expiration dates on the contract.

How do I push out a payment if a consumer paid early?

Submit a case under the consumer’s account requesting that the next payment date be pushed out. In the case, specify the exact date and the amount that was paid so the next payment date can be adjusted correctly. For how to open a case, see How Do I Submit Cases? under Help & Contacts.

What is the limit for a one-time ACH, credit, or debit payment?

The maximum amount for a single credit, debit, or ACH payment depends on your program setup, and a monthly limit is set per payment method. Consumers can see the applicable limit when making a payment in uPortal360. Consumers can make multiple payments using different payment methods.
Note: For your program’s exact payment-method limits, contact the Client Success Team.
