Down Payments are a common part of financing. uPortal360 allows your organization to reflect Down Payments taken offline as amounts on contracts, agreements and charge slips. Our portal can also support configurations where the apply.uportal360.com interface can be used as a point of sale device and take down payment transactions. Taking Down Payment Transactions in our portal requires changes to your program and approval. Please contact a sales representative to discuss if this feature is right for your business.

Down Payment Offline

During the contract origination process, your team will be asked to input any down payment amounts collected from a consumer. This will be used to show the Amount Financed (Retail Price less Down Payment). :important: since the payment is taken offline, we cannot enforce collection of the amount. It is your (our clients) responsibility to verify amounts and collection of the down payment.

Down Payment Offline - FAQs

  1. How can the Down Payment be made?
    • As the client in an offline configuration, you can accept any payment option you wish. Cash, card, debit, HSA are all forms you can accept and represent the amounts in the portal to then be reflected on the contract.
  2. Why can’t you show Down Payment requirements before Payment Options?
    • Since this can vary by payment options inside a pricing tier, which can vary by term and amounts, we do not have all the information needed to accurately display the requirements until it is time to present payment options.

Down Payment Transactions

During the contract origination process, the portal will reflect the down payment amounts required as defined by your program (typically at a Pricing Tier level). The consumer will agree to the Retail Price and the Down Payment amount required. The consumer will then select a payment option. The portal will then accept the down payment amount. The consumer can use multiple payment methods, but they will not be able to continue until they have satisfied the required down payment amount. Once the payment has been processed, then the consumer will be presented with contractual documents to finalize the financing agreement.

    • The portal will enforce you to meet the requirement and will not allow you to make more than specified on the charge entry
    • If this is not done, then the contract amounts will not be accurate and changes to financed amount may change payment estimates
